Bellingham United fell today 2-0 to the Vancouver Victory in Vancouver, WA. After scoreless first half a Victory player in the 48′ won a 50/50 ball and dribbled to about 25 yards out and railed a shot to the bottom right corner giving the Victory a 1-0 lead. In the 68′ BUFC committed a foul in the box resulting in a penalty which the Victory converted giving them a 2-0 score-line which is how the match finished.
“Today we were outplayed by the Victory. We battled in the first half but to be honest Victory were pushing hard and created several dangerous chances we managed to stop. In the second half they broke through early and then the game opened up a bit more,” commented BUFC Head Coach Lance Calloway. “We didn’t play quick often enough to unbalance them and we didn’t behind their back line too much to be as dangerous as we have up to this point in the season. Hats off to the Victory for a well-played match. I’m confident we will hit the training pitch next week to improve on our weaknesses today.”
BUFC’s keeper Tyler Visten had 9 saves. Victory outshot BUFC 16-12 on the afternoon.
Bellingham United travels to Wenatchee FC next Sunday May 22 with a 5pm kick off at the Wenatchee Apple Bowl.
