Bellingham United earns their first points of the season on the road. Final score 3-1 over OlyTown Artesians. Second half goals began with a penalty awarded to Uriel Herrera who was taken down in the box as he was winding up take a shot. The PK was converted by Rene Caro to equalize the game 1-1. R.G. Henderson had a beauty of a goal. It was the game winning goal to give United the lead. Richard was standing on top of the 18 yard box on the left side of the goal where he received a pass from René Caro and then hit the ball with the inside of his foot to find the right upper side netting. The final insurance goal came from a through ball played into by Christian Caro to find Ivan Colin in space on the left flank. Colin’s cross found Christian Garcia’s head to push Bellingham United to a 3-1 win over OlyTown Artesians.
“Today we started out slow and rather lethargic and OlyTown was able to get up on us in the first half. The second half we came out with much more intensity and purpose. Uriel Herrera made a significant impact in the second half with his energy and aggressiveness in the middle of the park.” Head Coach Lance Calloway commented. “The second half we were able to get our forward play clicking and they created a lot of opportunities. The goal scored by Henderson was a great shot that lifted the squad as it gave us the lead and confidence.”
Bellingham United will travel east of the mountains Saturday to play Yakima United and then return to Civic Stadium for a Sunday 3pm match and face off again against OlyTown Artesians.
