Hammering it Between the Sticks

Bellingham United Hammer Visiting Spokane Shadow

Bellingham United earn their first home match of the  2017 EPLWA season as the Hammers blow out the visiting Spokane Shadow 6-1.

In the fourth minute of the game the Shadow were able to get on the board with a goal as Juan Chavez was able to get behind the United defensive to score a near post shot beating an on rushing Bryce Logan. United responded with a lovely through ball by Elezar Galvan to set up Brendan Quilici for the equalizer in the 18th minute. In the 38th minute from the left side, Christian Caro targeted René Caro who was 8 yard out in the middle of the box and headed the ball to put the hometown Hammers up 2-1 at the half.

The second half of scoring began early as Luke Olney dished off a nifty ball to Nick Cashmere taking it down the left flank who was able to find the net in the 53rd minute hitting a low hard shot off the keepers shin and into the net. United’s fourth goal came four minutes later off left footed golazo from Christian Thode from 20 yards out set up by Conner Moe. IN the 77th minute United’s fifth goal was yet again from Thode who was able to find the side netting ripping a low driven ball from just inside the 18 yard box.   The sixth and final goal was in the 85th minute from was Cashmere took a pass from Caley Powers as he then maneuvered  around in the boxed to slot his second of the match.

Bellingham United want to thank everyone who attended, Birchwood Elementary, Sunnyland Elementary School, all the Meridian Youth Soccer 3v3 classic participants, coaches, players, officials, and the black and white army for supporting the Hammers.
