In the first half of the Reserves match both teams remained scoreless 0-0. The Hammers had a majoirty of the possesion however it was not until the second half that they found their stride. The goals came in bundles. The first of the game came off a perfectly placed ball from Ivan Colin to the front of Taylor Moe’s forehead to place it past the Steelhead’s keeper. The second goal came quckly after. It started with a loose ball that Caley Powers blasted low from the top of the 18 yard box to put United up 2-0. The third goal of the came started again with Ivan Colin playing a well timed through ball into Adrian Vazquez who slotted it past the keeper. The fourth goal was a penalty kick converted by Ivan Colin. The final goal came Christian Garcia to finish the match 5-2 (W). “I was really pleased how our Reserves adjusted in the second half of the match to spread our play out which stretched the Steelheads and we then were able to penetrate to create scoring opportunities. It was great we had 5 different goals scorers.” commented Head Coach Lance Calloway.

Christian Caro was blazing a trail in Sunday’s match for the first team. He found the net three times earning his first goals as a leftback and as well his first hatrick! He scored twice from set pieces, curling the ball around the wall, with his preffered left foot. The first of his trio was assisted by R.G. Henderson. As seen before in indoor games they set up a miraclous set piece to start the wave of goals. His second goal came from another dead ball on top of the 18 yard box where he demonstrated consistency to the fans and his teammates. The half of scoring ended 2-0

The second half of scoring continued with Ivan Colin flicking on a ball with the top of his head to find Uriel Herrera who managed to sneak it into the net. The fourth goal was a penalty kick converted by Christian Caro for his third of the evening. The final goal came from a chipped ball from Ivan Colin to Cristian Garcia who scored with a spectacular accuracy to find the upper side netting.

“Christian (Caro) played a very complete game Sunday, not just because of the 3 goals but he was solid defensively and was creating opportunities for his teammates with balls he played in behind the San Antonio backline. It was a good game also for some of our newer players such as Taylor Moe and Zack Bush who made some solid contributions in their debut with the first team.” commented Calloway.
