Bellingham United lose Saturday night to Olympic Force 6-2 tonight in Bremerton. The loss drops Bellingham United to 4-2 on the season.
Bellingham dug itself an early hole as they gave up two quick goals one in the 3 and 12 minutes. The Hammers went into halftime down 2-0.
In the second half Force yet again scored a goal in the second minute of the half, which Olympic Force extended thier lead to 5-0 with goals in the 51 and 54 minutes.
Nick Cashmere scored his 5th goal of this season in the 61st minute as he cut through the left side of Force’s backline to fire home a shot from 12 out to right side netting. United made it 5-2 after Mo Marenah drew a penalty for United after he was taken out by the on rushing Force keeper. Thiago Novis calmly slotted the shot to the left side of the net. As United was pushing numbers forward in an attempt to catch up gave up a counter goal to the Force in the 88th minute for the final talley.
“Tonight we did not show well for one another as a team. We created a lot of our own problems by poor passing, decision making and we were not connected. The Force took advantage of our mistakes and punished us” commented Head Coach Lance Calloway. “As I said to our players we need to put this match behind us as we need to focus on tomorrow and Vancouver Victory. No sense on dwelling on a poor performance.”
United will regroup to prepare to host league leading Vancouver Victory (5-0). Sunday June 12 with a 3pm kick off at Civic Stadium.
