BELLINGHAM, WA. Week 6 of the 2018 Evergreen Premier league. Bellingham United capture their first win of the season over the defending champions, Seattle Stars 3-1 (W).
The Black & White have been preforming well while playing at home and it seemed to click Saturday afternoon. Capitalizing on early chances is the key to Bellingham’s success. Two goals came 6 minutes apart from each other! The opening goal came in the 20th minute from Richard Henderson. He found himself alone inside the box with an open net and took full advantage of the opportunity. In the 26′ Christian Rotter (Man of the Match) intercepted a ball beating the rushing goalkeeper and passed the ball into the side netting for the eventual game winner. The half ended with the Hammers up 2-0. The second half insurance goal came in the 52′ just 7 minutes into the half. Cameron Miller, Center-back, earned BUFC their third goal off a corner kick. Conner Moe ran near post to flick it into the box where Cameron was anticipating the ball and knocked it into the net. The Stars created chances of their own and managed to scrap one in the 79′. The final score ended 3-1 Hammers coming out victorious.
Bellingham United are on the road for their next three matches and return home July 7th to host the wild card leaders, Vancouver Victory. 3 out of the next 4 matches will count towards United’s playoff contention. Support your local semi pro soccer team. Go Hammers!
